Royce Lewis not ready to play field yet, but Twins haven’t ruled it out for ALDS HOUSTON — The Twins are not ruling out the potential for Royce Lewis to get back out to third base in the American League Division Series. But they’re also not going to rush him into the field, either.Lewis, who strained his left hamstring Sept. 19, has been making what Rocco Baldelli called “gradual progress,” but the Twins are going to be careful as they proceed with him, letting him serve as their designated hitter for the time being.Baldelli said the rookie was in a good place to help the team win games — as he did in Game 1 of the Wild Card Series with two home runs — but he wasn’t at a spot yet where he or the medical staff felt comfortable sticking Lewis at third base.“We can’t put him in a spot where he’s going to stretch himself and compromise himself,” Baldelli said. “So when we’ve gotten over that point, over that hump, then we’ll do it. Then we’ll put him out in the infield and let him go. We’re just not quite at that point yet.”Lewis ...

Broncos activate safety P.J. Locke from injured reserve The Broncos are starting to get healthy at safety. They activated P.J. Locke off injured reserve Saturday, meaning he’ll join Justin Simmons (hip/groin) in returning to action Sunday against the New York Jets.Locke dislocated his big toe late in training camp and spent time in a walking boot before starting rehab work. Though head coach Sean Payton initially downplayed the injury, saying Locke would “be fine,” the Broncos placed Locke on injured reserve after the roster cutdown to 53 players. That move made him ineligible to return until this week. Over the past couple of weeks, he’s been moved without limitation during the open portions of practice and backed that up by jumping right into work as a full participant in practice on Wednesday. Now he can work back into game action on special teams and perhaps in rotation at safety with Simmons, who has missed the past two games himself due to injury, and Kareem Jackson.Denver had a roster spot open for Locke after...
